I use Windows Live Onecare and it reports that "virus:Win32/Alureon.H" cannot be removed.
How can I remove this?
Any help gratefully received.
Does it say if the virus has been quarantined? if that's the case then I wouldn't worry about it.
If not try starting up the PC in safe mode and running a virus scan, hopefully Onecare will be able to remove it.

Or download the removal tool from here;

Thanks for the speedy reply. I tried to boot in safe mode and have run the virus checker again and it still reports the virus:Win32/Alureon.H is still there. It reports "removal failed". I cannot see it listed in the quarantined files.

Ta also. I looked on the Windows page you suggested but I cannot see any referenece to which file is corrupted so I am still no wiser as to how to get rid of this virus.
Any further help?
you could try another virus scanner - i'd probably go for avast.
i've never tried using one of the online scanners but it can't hurt giving one of these a go before installing avast.
