Hope Pro2 hub. Much less volume recently. Took apart to investigate. 3 springs snapped. Ordered new bits.
Put back together and all seems to work fine. If last spring goes, what happens?
Imagine it’ll be quiet freewheeling. But will cassette still engage? Or will it slip on the unpawled/unspringed freehub? And therefore no propulsion?
Yup, pretty much
Fit a small trimmed zip tie in place of the 3 missing springs to tide you over. Something I’ve done before now and works a treat as a get by.

I found zip ties actually worked better than the genuine springs. The revised (half thickness) Hope springs are more reliable but still a bit pants, otoh they sent me a whole bunch for free when I moaned. If you can't figure out how to make your parts reliable, the next best thing is to make it easy to fix them when they break
The leaf springs are the weak link in an otherwise excellent product.
The ziptie solution is more than a ‘get you by’ in my experience. They tend to last longer than the leaf springs and make the hub even louder!
If you want to keep using the pukka springs, don’t neglect the seal that you are supposed to install with the special tool (the main outer seal). It can go brittle and lose its elasticity and this means any new springs are likely to get exposed to corrosion very quickly.
absolutely love this place sometimes..
thanks for the zip tie heads up!
