You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Evening guys,
Not seen a PPDS 2013 thread so thought i'd get the ball rolling 🙂
We did PPDS in 2012 but drove down with 3 riders, this year we're debating it again but with 2 riders, so cost wise it may be more viable to book though a company via flights/transfers and hire bikes. It may upset my mate a bit as he wouldn't be taking his Zesty then, but i'd be happy anyway.
So, there was a shop in Morzine at the top of the hill (about 100m-150m from Tourist office)at the crossroads on the LHS, it had a load of Lapierres in there... which i never got a card of etc and can't locate on the internet...
We were debating Alpine Elements staying possibly in the Ridge hotel (we visited the bar and liked the place) but are more than up for some ideas on accomdation, but mostly for 3-4 day packages including bikes and maybe even a guide...
Any info appreciated.
+1 Trev & Cat, awesome hosts, guide and chalet
Thanks guys, email sent. Keep them coming.. You can ever have too many ideas 🙂
Following on from this thread most of you ignored...
We're looking at doing 22nd-29th June, staying in Les Gets. We'll do the PPDS on our next to last day. But need to know before booking if it's viable to XC over the course of the week before that with limited lifts in action. Obviously the main lifts in other places don't open until the weekend of the PPDS, which is the 28th. But Les gets lift and the Pleny in Morzine are open... but can we get a week XC out of the location purely with these ?
We'd be looking at booking a guide for 1-2 of the days.. but that's assuming he can get us to/from places etc.
www.wildbike.co.uk run specific PPDS accommodation from Weds to Weds so you don't have to squeeze the big ride in at the start or end of your break. Awesome chalet in Morzine.
i traveled alone last year,
fights = £130 return (inc bike) bristol to geneva with easy jet.
transfers = 25 euro
hotel = 30 euro/night
cheap as chips, driving only makes sense if there are 4+ per vehicle.
But need to know before booking if it's viable to XC over the course of the week before that with limited lifts in action.
You'll struggle, TBH.
We arrived a few days before the lofts opened, and although we played about on the Morzine side, I think the 'out there' stuff is nigh on impossible to get to without lifts in action.
There's only so many runs you can do down the Pleny (one, in our case) before it bores you!
DrP
As DrP says, easy to get stuck without lifts.
We were facing a long detour ride when a lift we wanted to use closed due to high winds ! Fortunately we noticed it starting after we had climbed a couple of miles up a mountain and proceeded to blast back down the hill agin to get the lift hoping it would keep going 🙄 it did stop a couple of time when we were on it. It was very windy and very cold sitting way up there 🙄
Ive booked it thru these giuys catetred and flying

yeah, week before even Super Morzine lift may be closed.
You'd struggle to get round the whole loop in a day without the lifts. You could possibly manage the central core in a day with a load of walking. Don't hold me to that though.
Don't hire bikes - take your own.
