Can anyone suggest a safe (I know these things are relative) place to park a high top van in the Leith Hill- Box Hill area?

Boring question, but every car park seems to have a height restriction these days.

Cheers

On the road at the bottom of box hill by Rykers cafe? Or on the road at the top of box hill but past the zig zags

Redlands Parking on Google Maps, or Coldharbour.

There is plenty of parking available on residential streets in and around Dorking, or if you want a car park then St Martin's Walk in the town centre.

Peaslake car park.

Gives you access to Pitch Hill and you're close to the stores for snacks or the pub for lunch and you can do shuttle runs up Radnor for Barrys 😉

Car park at the top of Radnor road has no height restrictions

In fact all the ones Ive seen around Holmbury and Pitch hill have no height restrictions

One on Leith has height restrictions, but pretty much all of them don't. Parking at the top would be shit though. I'd second Ryka's cafe, or Boxhill & Westhumble station (it's free, but not many spaces). Alternatively there's one on the left at the bottom of the Zig Zag Road. Always struck me as a bit secluded though, I'd not leave my car there.

if you're on road bikes, do you want a summit finish, or an easy downhill run (not relevant on the MTB as a downhill run to finish is the only viable answer)

If a summit, stump up a few quid and finish up Box Hill where you can also get coffee and cake.

If a downhill, Ryka's, Wotton Hatch, layby by the church at Westcott (not Sundays though), car park behind the Mill at Gomshall, by the Rec at Shere (Upper St)

Could you use the train and save on the fuel cost and pollution? Plenty of train stations in the area.

How far are you coming from? It may well be quicker and easier just to cycle out.

I don't think they will let me take my campervan on the train 🙂  We were going to have a long weekend in the area and need somewhere safe for the van one we get kicked off the campsite.

Thanks for all your help everyone.  Look out for my upcoming 'where's the nicest food pub in the area' thread.

Car park at the top of Ranmore common (junction of Ranmore Road and Ranmore Common) or Denbies would be my suggestions.

Ranmore car park up the top is National Trust and Pay & Display. Though NT members park for free.

National Trust car park off Tanhurst Lane (right by the trail up to Leith Tower) is free and has no height restriction, always busy so a bit safer

I always used to like sneaking Tanhurst Lane into club runs, start with oh we’re just going to spin out to  peaslake and chuck it in on the way home 🙂

I warned the last club group i took up there. They still moaned like ****.

When i did the Octopus last year Tanhurst was the last of the 8 on the route that I followed. That was a special bonus at the end.
