Can you fit standard panniers on folding bikes?

I know many of them have custom luggage but I already own some normal panniers. I'm interested in various different styles of folder, preferably one with larger wheels rather than the brompton style ones.

I have a set of panniers for my Dahon (20in wheels) not used them yet though.. Just check length of pannier then top of rack measure how long they are down the wheel.. seems kinda logical.
I bought mine from an LBS with a "bring back if they don't fit" clause..

yes - dahon do a jacked up rack which you can use larger panniers with, though as with all rack, bag, foot combo's should always check

also you can get a convertor for some panniers so that they mount on the headtube mount dahons have.

yup, panniers on my Brompton:

Heel clearance is the biggest problem, have to move your feet forward on the pedals a bit but basically fine.

I used the Ortlieb 'office' bag which worked well on a standard rack on a 20" wheeled Dahon.

Adjustability + how effective the release mechanism are the key feature to look for.

Would recomend looking at the AtoB folding bike forum (home to all things geeky and folding....)
