I have just ordered a Canyon Grizl AL7 for bike packing along the river Danube. I want to have rear mounted panniers but am not sure which to get.
Could anyone point me in the direction of which pannier rack to get? The bike has a rear through axle.
Thanks in advance

Can't go wrong with Tailfin.

For racks tubus are the best - but at a price.  Really robust and with a variety of fixing systems to fit any bike.

Do you have any mounting points?

Edit - just checked it has conventional mounting points.  You might need the foot extension as the lower mounts seem very low

there is a reason tubus are the go to for serious tourers.

Tailfin are really nice, sleek looking and expensive.

I've just picked up a 2nd hand old man mountain rack and Robert axle Project for my scandal. The rack is more traditional than the tailfin and seems a lot stronger/robust.

Apparently racks that attach directly to a hub can take more weight but my surly long haul trucker with traditional rack took so much weight Im not sure how relevant it is but I guess it depends on the frame design and material.

Does your frame have eyelets for a rack?

Sorry, I missed off "and heavier" from the above post. I think the rack, axle, fittings and bolts weigh over 1kg. If I was buying new I'd pick the tailfin.

Strong light cheap pick 2

A tubus rack will carry 50 kg.  Needed if you are german with mountains of luggage or dutch with your partner on the rack.  tubus are also triangulated much more than most so flex much less

I have brokenloads of racks over the years but not tubus.  They are a heavy tho unless you go for the ti fly one

I’d second a Tubus with mounting points for though axles. Great racks and worth the “tubus premium”. The QL3.1 option on some racks is a nice to have, and I have one of their bags for work. The mounting points don’t don’t protrude.

That frame has pannier mounts,  No need to use axle adaptors

Hi @iolo

as @tjagain says - Tubus. has Tubus on two bikes now and they excellent and worth the money and especially so as the Grizl has proper 4 point rack mounts.

If you go Tubus just need to choose from the many styles and also hunt for stock.

Tubus Logo Evo would be my default choice good as pannier rails are lower than the top deck so panniers don't interfere with anything on the deck and you can place panniers a but further back. Tubus Vega EVO is a bit more minimal looking if that is your thing

having said that bit current bike that have just built up went OMM  and specifically the axle mount - it is very rigid! Though if i had a grizl would go for Tubus as think better match for the mounts.

for Canyon Grizl 7

Impressive marketing guff from Canyon:

When the asphalt ends, the Grizl 7 comes alive.
