Hi,
I am looking to build a set of 29er wheels for a hardtail. I was always planning to get the reliable Stans Arch EX / Hope Evo combo but after looking at the Pacenti tl28s I am tempted to reconsider.
Reviews are varying, from the Dairylea to the hard as nails.
I am planning to run tubeless, with 2.3-2.4 tyres.
Anyone out there have any real world experience with the Pacenti tl28s?
Cheers,
Andy
I have to say a bit dairylea in my opinion. I'm 70kg and managed to put some impressive dings in the rear of mine. Now, it was cack-handed riding, but I've always been cack-handed, and my Mavic819 shrugged off every attempt at trying to destroy them.
They've gone back to shape with some carefully bending and hold air pressure tubeless just fine, but I was quite surprised how soft they are. Front's been fine.
I have them in 26 inches on my HT and they've been great, go all over the place on it, DH races, uplift days etc, I weigh 90kg and haven't dented mine yet, I'd definitely have another pair.
WTB KOM i25 ftw
Mine have been fine, I'm 88kg or thereabouts. But my home ground is swinley / Aldershot / Surrey Hills so roots rather than rocks to damage them.
I've only done a few rides on mine and so far they've been fine. I can only compare them to the stock Alex zx24 rims that came on my cube though. They went up tubeless easily and I really notice the difference in weight. I couldn't justify the difference in cost to upgrade to stand rims. Especially with the crash replacement and free re-trueing service.
