Anyone got one? Wondering about one or a Santa Cruz Hightower CC... Love my SC Bronson and the after sales warranty is excellent on SC... not sure about Pace... Why are there so few reviews?
Looks mint!!!
Yeah but has anyone ridden one or even seen one?
Just to echo what you have found, sorry I'm not any actual help to your question...
I have been looking at the Pace for months now, but I feel like I'm searching for a reason to buy it, rather than a reason not to, if that makes sense.
For me, it seems to tick all the right boxes - fairly light, Goldilocks amount of suspension travel - not too much, not too little - geo that makes you think it'll be great on the flat/climbs as well as the downs, great spec for the price in relative terms for a small/boutique manufacturer etc and I love the way it looks.
I guess because they are such a small company that there aren't that many around. I have found only 3 reviews and basically no user experience.
The reviews were great, so it's frustrating that no one actually seems to have one to give real world feedback on.
There was a thread a couple of weeks ago when someone asked about it in there and there was a very mixed response in terms of service and warranty info. They changed the warranty from 10 years at launch to 5 years later to be in line with their competitors apparently. However, the other bikes I am looking at, Tallboy in my case for example (for me its closer to my intent and my opinion of the intent of Pace than the HT despite the travel comparisons etc), have the SC lifetime warranty that makes me think it might just be worth paying a bit more for even though I don't think I am the sort of rider that rides in such a way that I'm likely to break a frame, I guess it's like any type of insurance - you don't need it till you need it!
For what it's worth, I have spoken to Sophie at Pace a couple of times over the last few months and have had nothing but swift replies and helpful answers to my questions.
I had one owner response to a comment I left on a Youtube video that the bike was great, but then I saw that he was on Pace's instagram tagged in a ride with them so without casting doubts on his objectiveness, it feels like there may be some bias.
I had RC30 and RC35 forks way back in the early 90's and always wanted one of the square tubed frames so the Pace is tugging in my heartstrings - I would be using a C2W scheme so I will be keeping it for 5 or 6 years to justify the outlay, so it needs to be right - the warranty change and mixed reviews bothers me because of these timescales to be honest, especially in comparison to the apparent no quibble, lifetime SC one.
i was intending to demo one earlier this year, but covid spoilt that,
there are a couple of guys on instagram who ride them, #pacerc295
they both can clearly ride bikes looking at the clips / picture locations.
i'm in a similiar predicament, had a 5010, looking at a tallboy (more than likely) XT £6k versus an XT pace £4.1k which is great value, think i'll go and demo both, when they become available.
/\ feel the same as what mattham said, he beat me by a minute :0)
I have been looking at the Pace for months now, but I feel like I’m searching for a reason to buy it, rather than a reason not to, if that makes sense.
That’s where I got to with it as well. Then when I resurrected that old thread I got a load of comments about there past warranty issues which put me off a bit.
Dropping the warranty length after release also a bit odd! Sounds like if/when it breaks it’ll somehow be your fault.
In the end I went for an AM9 because I was looking for reasons not to get one and couldn’t find any.
Absolutely no use to this question, but I was looking for a new bike last year and heard Pace were working on something new...so I got rather excited. Then found out it was carbon and a 29er - the 2 things I really wasn't wanting for my next bike, so I went off the idea.
Then I saw it...and I do think it looks great, just not what I'm after.
I suspect it will ride very well and it will be a thing of admiration for anyone looking at it. Nothing about it suggests it'll be any more of an issue than other full suspension bikes and I suspect Pace will be very good if there are any queries.
I'd love to own another Pace, but it would need to be alloy and not a 29er, but that is just my personal preference.
Get it bought and enjoy it!
Thanks everyone. I'm still unsure: SCruz have been brilliant with me - they replaced a whole frameset for free because of a small amount of lacquer bubbling, and a whole front end of a CC for £600 when I smashed it on a rock... And I like to support my local shop - Biketreks... but it does seem a bargain.
I've an RC295 (three months old) and the best review you will find is GuyKesTV review on YT. I completely agree with his review, its damn fast and capable but you don't know it until you get to a corner! 4 pots needed. Its an amazing value frame (considering £3k others) and PACE have done an excellent job. I love the stiff frame, with stiff rear end, and the trail orientated aggressive position over the 20mm riser bars. Even with 150mm it doesn't feel overbiked. Mine built up at 13.5kg all in. The true winning test for me is its first choice out the garage everytime. Ive changed teh spec a little since this shot:

That does look rather nice and there aren’t going to be loads of them about so you’re unlikely to bump into someone with another one. The only detail that looks a bit plain / basic is the rocker on the seat tube - used to seeing them all detailed and machined and this one is completely flat.
If I liked 29ers (not convinced yet) and I needed a new bike I’d want to test ride the Pace.
Looks great btw
Looks really good that and probably the best picture of one I've seen.
@joebristol its lovely and machined on the inside!
That’s the wrong way round then! Still think it looks great though
Machined on the inside of the links, where they fill with mud and you can never clean it... seems an odd move.
Was toying with one myself to replace a 2019 Slash C frame as want to go down in travel.
