You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Pace RC129, not new to me but had as a singlespeed for a couple of years. Stripped to sell, took some pics and an eagle eyed buyer has spotted something that turns out to be another example of a Pace cracked frame. Can't find anything specifically on the RC129 but plenty on others.

Did anyone have any joy? And is it worth getting in touch with Pace (from above seems not but that was 7 years ago and maybe they've changed). Those who may have got theirs rewelded, did it hold up or just crack again?
Anyone recommend a general welder in Surrey, or does it need a specialist?
(seatpost just inserted there and flexed to show the crack; it's normally had plenty of depth in the seattube so I'm a bit bemused how it cracks - must be seatpost flexing above the tube junctions?)
dont hold your breath waiting for Pace
Yes I am bitter
I got mine welded and sold it to some one off here to make a pub bike
I used to love pace stuff too and still have my eye on the RC200 I sold to my ex boss to buy back when he cant ride it any more
Is the rc129 not fillet brazed steel? If it is DO NOT try and weld it or you'll have a disaster of steel and brass (which have very different melting points).
A framebuilder should be able to do something - a brazed patch / internal sleeve or even (tricky and expensive) a whole new tube.
My homebuild frames always have a sleeve there - otherwise they just crack unless the tube has a very thick butted section.
I also don't put clamp slots on the front (tensile) face of the tube.... Rear slots might fill with mud, but they are less likely to propagate a crack.
