[Closed] Oversize bottle cages - Fidlock a good option?

I'm trying to get the right cage to work with a 1 litre Sigg bottle, because:
- i hate plastic bottles
- 1 litre is good for a lot of my shorter trail rides where i'm not carrying a backpack
- i have heaps of Sigg bottles which last me a long time (apart from the one I ran over with a tractor)

Latest effort was an expanding Topeak job, which is now pulling through the cage bolts, so i've been looking at the Fidlock Twist Uni Connector.

It's an expensive option and it says that it will take up to 80mm diameter which is exactly what the Sigg bottle is. I don't really want to shell out and find it doesn't quite fit. Also don't want to lose any more bottles.

So has anyone tried this combination with success?

I had a Kleen Kanteen with the sports lid which fit in a standard bottle no dramas. Perhaps change the bottle rather than the holder?

I use a fidlock bottle, the one with the specific bottle rather than the uni-connector one. I have found it to be very secure, I have used it during a couple of enduro races and for numerous days out which included rocky descents. I haven't had any issues with the bottle coming out at all.

My only criticism of the fidlock bottle is that it's hard on the outside so you can't squeeze water into your mouth, you have to suck. However you will have your own bottle anyway.

I think I had read a review of the uni-connector somewhere, I believe it was found to be very secure too.

Thanks for the responses. I don't want to change bottles as i like the Sigg size and stopping to drink is fine. Thanks for the tip on the fuel bottle option, that might be handy.

No rattling with the fidlock system?
