Looking at getting some overshoes...whats best velcro or zips ?

They would be used both on and off road. Cheers 🙂

Velcro, in my experience the sole wears out first anyway.

Velcro, the zip will last 1 week in bad weather

I was going to recommend the Endura MT500 overshoes, but they have a zip.....admittedly I have had to send a pair back as one of the zips came off but I put that down to yanking on it too hard (the zip, that is).
I got a new pair sent out within a couple of days and these have been fine. I have a refined method of getting them done up now.

The zip never gets too mucky in my experience, as it's trailing behind your foot. I suspect the sole with be knackered long before the rest of the overshoe.

Zips. As soon as the velcro gets muddy, it won't stick and you end up with a wet ball of neoprene dragging round your foot.

I use BBB Enduro overshoes and they are great!

I wouldn't recomend the Endura ones. I had to send the first pair back as the ziper broke and on the replacement pait i have had the one way bit of both zips brake and one of the velcro tabs at the top go. Other than that a ziper one is better as the velcro stops gripping at some point and they end up gust flaping around your feet, though i only use mine on road.

velcro - zips and salty roads don't mix. never buy zippered overshoes, i've gone through 3 sets in 2 winters and have given up on them now, salt and subsequent jamming means busted zips.

Depends on the size of the teeth on the zips. I had some DHB overshoes and the zips broke in no time at all. Endura MT500s have lasted a couple of winters - they're just dying now. The zips work better with the occasional drop of thick oil on them.

Having had both, I'd pick zips now over velcro but neither is 100% satisfactory.

I've resorted to Sealskiz socks, as the zips have also gone on my Endura Mt500s....
