I'm off up to Scotland for a week of riding and wild camping next week.
The plan is to have no plan, but the idea is ride whatever we fancy then find a spot to ride into the woods and wild camp for the night. At most we'll be doing a 2 day expedition into the Cairngorms
There are only 2 of us and we have been wild camping for a while so we know the general code RE fires, rubbish, not camping by water etc but there are some trail centres we want to ride and some are remote enough to disappear into the woods and return the following day. However I was thinking about this last night and last thing I want is for a well meaning person to spot a car in a car park late at night with MTB stickers on the back, assume the worst and send out a search party!
Now I realise places like Glentress probably aren't the best idea for this but in smaller places such as Laggan, Ballblair etc will it be sufficent to leave a note in the windscreen saying 'camping, expected back 1/9 at 1000'?
Also, if anyone has a good route for 2 day Cairngorm ride please share! Focus on gnarly MTB trails rather than just slogging fireroads
