[Closed] Oval Chainring on Transition Smuggler (2016): will 32t fit or do I size down?

As above - tempted to try an oval chainring but it looks like sticking with 32t would be tight. Anybody running one, or have you had to size down?

My Smuggler is a 2016 model with a SRAM GX Eagle chainset - much abused.

Any recommendations?

Don’t know about your specific bike but perhaps getting a measurement from the chainring supplier will help or perhaps add another spacer to the bottom bracket? Also, I think you can size down without too much loss? Or perhaps it was up 🤗

not sure, but whenever I have emailed Transition they always answer quickly. I'd do that

Transition say the max is a 34T normal ring so 32T oval should be fine.

Their support archive is awesome for frame spec, gives you everything you need.

32T fits fine, I have one on my 2016 Smuggler. I bought it direct from the works components workshop, at the time the owner had a Smuggler himself and if I remember correctly he said 34t won’t fit.
