My parents have offered to take us away as a family. 😀

We already all go to Aviemore and stay in Glen Feshie for a week every Easter, but they would like to go somewhere else as well. Was thinking Wales, Lakes but open to all suggestions.

Requirements:

1. Good family biking nearby (preferably without using a car)
2. Quiet
3. Near beach if possible
4. Big enough for 4 adults and 2 kids
5. Even better if some nice pubs etc 🙂
6. Allows a dog (not a deal breaker)

I'm well aware that stuff this summer is already booked, looking for next summer probably.

Click my user name.. Not much MTB riding nearby, but there is good family biking from the door road free across to the country park and beach.. There are excellent road rides in the area if you wanted to get out by yourself.

Barclosh Farm* near Dalbeattie - close to 3-4 Stanes, beaches, lots of other family stuff to do nearby as well, lets you keep bikes in a locked shed - or did when we last went 3 years ago

Someone else on here used to stay there as well

*proviso if they are still going, they wrote to us a year or two ago offering us one of the cottages

If that was aimed at me, no idea, we always used to go in April, but I'm sure others on here can tell you.

Really liking that cottage at Alnmouth myself, absolutely fantastic corner of the country, but you mustn't tell anyone, or they'll spoil it!

Some where near dalbeattie. We stayed at Barend Lodges Sandy Hills

It was lovely but MRS Ampthill rewckons that cottages in villages would be cheaper

1. Good family biking nearby (preferably without using a car)
You can get into Dalbeattie via abut a mile of road
2. Quiet
well it was at half term, scottish kids were in school
3. Near beach if possible
500m to Sandy Hills beach
4. Big enough for 4 adults and 2 kids
our lodge slept 8, 2 bedrooms and giant landing with 4 beds
5. Even better if some nice pubs etc
on site bar was fine
6. Allows a dog (not a deal breaker)
yes

this is one provider

http://www.thistlelodges.co.uk/

NB bike storage was 2 bikes in a shed, front wheels removed

Cheers for the info & keep it coming! Lots of investigating to do before I 'present' my ideas to the rest of the family 😀
