Morning all,
I have been looking at the blue hydraulics reservoirs that come with a shaped back panel and was after any real world opinions. In principal it sounds like a good idea although I can't say I've ever thought "gosh, my bladders uncomfortable." At least not in this context lol
So do people find them comfortable, easier to fill out clean or is it more of a solution looking for a problem type thing?
I thought the main benefit of my osprey blader with a frame was that it was easy to slide into it’s compartment
Also maintains it's shape so other compartment s on the backpack are easier to access.
Got 2. One used with water looks new after 3 years. One used with hydration tabs is now yellow but still OK.
Not had any issues with mine over a couple of years. It is a little easier to slide in to the pack especially if there's already stuff in the main compartment. No mould though I am a bit precious about hanging it to dry. No leaks.
It is because the newer Osprey bags have an air gap between the back panel and the bag? They call it "AirSpeed™ trampoline suspended mesh backsystem" which is a bit wordy but you get the idea - a bladder bulging into that space would undermine the benefit of that?
Thank you for the feedback all, makes sense that it would allow for easier access. Good to know that it doesn't seem to discolour as readily as other reservoirs do although obviously that subjective to content and cleaning. It will be going into a Siskin 12 pack which doesn't have the aforementioned Airspeed back panel.
Camelbak for me. Keeps the water tasting nicer. Recently switched to osprey and the water tastes disgusting after a couple of hours. We have tap water more chlorinated than a swimming pool here in the NW and i find the osprey really brings out the taste. More than camelbak does.
I was a happy bunny when someone told me the trick about keeping drinking bladders in the freezer. I've not had to clean one in years.
