My old camelback mule just isn't big enough for the longer trips i'm doing now and after deciding on an osprey backpack i'm stuck between these two.I know the manta holds slightly more but the raptor is a dedicated mtb pack.Thoughts?
There is a fundamnetal difference in the two packs, the back system of the Manta is semi rigid, which improves ventilation, but does not flex much, so when you lean forward it will arch off your back and cause pressure points lower doen where it does touch. The Raptor has a more flexible back and will generally sit closer to the riders back shape more of the time, especially when being 'jiggled' around by riding off road.
having said all that, I chose a Manta for the extra space and it is great, previously used a Hawg. The Manta is better all round. Purchased mine at Biketreks.net had a good choice in stock.
Had both, preferred the Raptor for riding
