so I’ve just pulled the trigger on xl stage 4 and I’m in the process of putting the build together, I’ve got access to some 2nd hand xt cranks off a friend which are 175mm long, does anyone who currently rides a stage four have any advice on whether these will work out ok or best to source some 170’s? Had 175 on my patrol c and it was shite. Cheers

Yeah I’m not suggesting I could tell or it would be any benefit or disadvantage on a road or fire road but with some low B.B. bikes that run a fair amount of sag it can make a difference whilst tackling technical climbs. My patrol would **** on everything if I rode flats but was ok ish if I ran clips.

175's on my segment if that's any help.

170 cranks on my large segment, gives a little bit of extra clearance in ruts and such

I went from 170 to 175 on my segment and it was ok, but caught the pedals occassionaly

No direct experience of the stage 4 but on paper the bb is even lower than on my smuggler. I had to switch from 175s to 170s on that as the pedal strikes were driving me nuts.

Yes and that was my concern, only caveat being the transition bikes are designed to work best when running 35% sag where as the orange will be closer to 25% so fingers crossed it shouldn’t be a huge issue.
