Getting a new bike for commute and weekend fun.
paying quite a premium for having Orange written on the downtube.
Heavy. Expensive. Poorly spec'd. Not sure why you'd buy one unless you really just want an Orange.
I just built up a Planet X London Road with Sora group set, shimano wheels, conti cyclox speed tyres and shimano sora disc brakes for just over £500. everything brand new*!
F&F on sale at £150 atm. http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FRPXLONROD/planet-x-london-road-frameset
*Edit: Apart from the saddle!
Dunno that I would... Maybe because the px Dirty Disco is cheaper, lighter, better specced
Can I have your preferences in that price range?
For a grand, dirty disco then London road, then pinnacle akrose. And I am an Orange fanboy
FWIW, none of the above seems to stop them selling well for us, mostly for the same uses as you've described.
Personally I wouldn't buy a bike with mechanical discs now hydros are available. Also as has been pointed out the Orange is way overpriced - £300 less gets you the similarly specced CAADX Tiagra (hydro disc/much better spec version is a couple of hundred quid more than the Orange)/
Duckman, any chance of sum links please? What's a dirty disco? If I type that into Google I dread to think what will pop up!!
Coatesy
Can you elaborate please? I do love the look of it but I agree if you look at cube you a lot of bike for that much money.

It's a bit like car companies doing bikes isn't it (BMW etc). Folk mop them up due to the branding.

Except it's nothing like that really.
Not a lot to elaborate on really, we sell CX bikes from a few brands like Trek and Cannondale too, the RX9 sells equally well in their company, and most of them seem to be sold for commuting or fun rides rather than proper CX racing.
