I'm in the market for an orange patriot, but I can't figure out what size I will need. Only looking for something to play about on, so going to get an older model, I'm 6ft 1, I'm guessing I will need an 18" inch frame - but not certain as I know the geom on downhill/freeride bikes is different which means I might need a smaller size. Can anyone give me a clue what size I need?

6ft on an 18" here(2012) I got mine as a big alpine trail bike that I can do a bit of Dh / uplift on, feels great but I've never liked tiny bikes, with a 50mm stem it feels near identical size to my Five with a 70mm stem.

+1 for 18".

I'm 6 foot and all my Oranges have been 18" frames (Subzero, G4 and Alpine 160). All been perfect.

I always feel more in control on a smaller bike, noticed with a lot of the freeride Iv been doing the bike seems more in control than me.
So in your opinion,, 16" would work well for a 6fter ?

Nice vid! Can definitely see the appeal for a smaller frame over that stuff
