Lovely bike, I adore mine. Not the lightest but it just works so well, handling is good and it is an absolute demon on singletrack.

I've had mine for 5 years. Brilliant bike, I've got a big fork on it and it will go anywhere. Really quick on descents. Get one!

Brought one flogged it hated it. I thought the build quality was a bit shody on mine considering the money it cost.

Nice bike. Overpriced, and a bit heavy depending on what you want it for.

Pure7 is a reasonable alternative without the slidey dropouts. If you don't need them, give that a look.

So when we say it's heavy, does anyone know the weight? Following a couple on Ebay and by the comments here think I'm sold.

On my 3rd (stil got 1st, 2nd was nicked), I like them.

It fails the "pick it ip in the car park weight test" but feels nippy when you actually ride the thing. It goes up well, goes down well and does the in between stuff well too.

Heavy, expensive and not well specced for the money (at "S" level at least)

Still the best bike I've ever owned. I'd only swap it for something similar but lighter.

Slidey dropouts can be a drag, I changed my bolts to titanium and bought decent allen keys as I kept ripping the steel bolts apart.

have one with an alfine on it. 2010 bought off here. as above - not light, but after CEN regs came in most steel frames are quite hefty now. rides much lighter than you feel it should, and run with a pike ( which i also run on my 5 ), it sometimes feels like it has suspension - odd.
it just eggs me on to go faster. kind of hanker after another one so i can build it up single speed.

Just found a post on here stating 6.6lbs for the frame.....that's nearly as much as my 5! Slightly shocked but sounds like it rides well.

Friend has hers in commuter guise at the moment (rigid steel fork, mudguards) and it weighs 27.5lbs. As others have said, it feels heavier to lift than it does to ride.

Run a P7 as my winter bike with 140mm up front... fantastic ride, just feels sorted over all types of terrain/conditions.

As others have said ,ahardtail that rides a bit like a full suss !
Very comfy and once you get used to the weight you'll be a little fitter :D.

I have two!
One 'Pro' from 2004, and last year's frame built up with Pro components from a Five - the frame of which I sold as it was too much bike for my style and irregularity of riding.

I thought I liked the 2004 one, except for it feeling a tad short in the cockpit. It's kept up at the heilan' hame now, for dotting about the countryside, and is light enough for the tasks I ask of it.

I LOVE the newer one though. It feels just right, and with 140mm forks up front coupled with steely-springiness at the back it's just the job for me. I ain't no racer boy, so I don't need ultra-lightness of being.

If I were you, Danno, I'd bid on it.

Have an '06 and have run it SS, geared and with an Alfine. Never had issues with the slidey dropout bolts.

Very versatile and rides superbly. Best bike I have owned. Even prefer it to my Five. Run it with 140mm forks and it feels spot on, up and down.

Just had mine resprayed by Orange as it was starting to rust, but should be good for few more years yet.

Needs bigger forks than the rebas I'm running.
140mm revs coming my way next month.

2007 singlespeed, 140 Vans. Never had a problem with the dropouts. As others have said, don't go on looks or weight - the ride is the real deal. So much so if I had to chose between it & the Soul it would get the nod. Apologies to Cotic fanbois.

got an 08 one, 130mm toras on it.
i have until last week ran it with the forks set to 80mm, but have just removed the spacer to set forks to 130, and im surprised at the difference, feels much more alive.
not a light bike to lift, mine is 33lb! but doesnt feel heavy to ride.
i would buy another.
'11 frames are heavier than earlier ones due to cen testing i think?

Another one here - but run with a set of White Bros Rock Solid carbon rigid forks on as a winter hack, trailer pulling bike. I fitted a 2.4" Nobby Nick on the front and it rides great.

It weighs in at 27lb with nothing special on it.

I love it - apart from the crappy decals which fall off and poor paint job that orange seemed to have done. I'll be getting it resprayed at some point though.

I see this as a frame which I will keep until either it breaks or I break!

It doesn't ride like a full-suss, but a sorted ride none-the-less.
