Hi
I've bought a 2005ish orange five and swapped the rear shock but when I put the new 22x8 hardware on the shock has movement so I measured the gap the rear shock sits and it's 24mm any suggestions?? Thoughts and ideas most welcome
Thanks
Get some 24mm hardware? Reuse the old set?
Is it a new shock or second hand? If it's the latter did you also change the bushes when you put the new reducers in?
It's a brand new x-fusion rear shock and the width of the shock where the bushings go is slightly more narrow than the existing coil shock which is not a fox, rockshox it's a cheap unknown brand so using the old set doesn't work and I'm struggling to get 24mm
Tf tuned or their like will machine you some to order
Ah right best phone them then cheers
Does that one have inserts running through the bushings with cap screws that thread into them?
On my five the top & bottom one's are slightly different lengths & if they were the wrong way round there would be play in the bushings as at one end the cap screws would bottom out on the insert rather than clamping every thing up tight.
I'd double check with a vernier gauge as they were never 24mm, depending on age they varied between 21.8, 22, or 22.2mm as far as i'm aware.
I've double checked and its 24mm (I know weird) rang Orange and they are perplexed but they were brilliant managed to get 24x8 hardware off CRC for £13 for both ends ,I've got loads of 8x22 from cups that sit in to a bolt with end caps and everything I've tried still has play , hopefully the new hardware will sort it
