Something on the Orange website about the latest Five only being suitable for a 32t middle ring - anyone found this to be true?

true, unless you use a spacer on the bb, run a 36/26 dual ring setup with an e-thirteen chaindevice which spaces it just enough for the chain to miss the bottom of the swingarm.

Why???????

I've got a 34t middle ring on my new 2010 frame, am I going to die? 😯 Is it BB specific? I'm running an Octalink BB rather than these new fangley spangley ones.

I'm really scared now.... 🙁

I was caught out by this recently, trying to fix an SLX 36/2? crankset to my missus's 2006 Five. It just just clips the bolt with the chain when shifting between the rings, ended up changing the ring for a 34 which fits fine.

got a 36T on my 5 and it is only a problem some times when shifting from 36 down to granny, can catch the swingarm, but a little overshift sorts it.

yep. had to swap the BB spacers around to properly clear the swingarm.

used to catch sometimes when shifting up to the 36. if i loaded up the suspension and then shifted it cleared it.
