Ey up,

After an aluminium 29er hard tail with quite a racey type build/feel. Was looking at a cannondale F29 or the whyte 729/929.

Like to know a few thoughts on a lightweight build for a clockwork, maybe a clockwork pro with few upgrades. I have an orange R8 at the moment that I'm going to convert to rigid when a new bike comes along so thought it would be nice to have another. Anyone have one? What they like weight wise?

Cheers

I have just had a Clockwork S.

Upgraded the brakes to Hope X2's and put on an XT rear mech. After playing with the forks air pressure it feels really good to ride. Quick uphill and really good fun on twisty trails.

The wheels and tyres are quite heavy so looking to change these. The tyres are 750g each so hope to save a pound by replacing these. I'm then looking at the cheaper Superstar/Crest wheels which will probably knock around 1 1/2lb off.

Oh and the forks on mine are heavy too!

Overall a great bike. Just need to play on my Five now and compare times with Strava.

Hi, ye fair one. 26lbs sounds reasonable. My R8 is great, and got some real nice parts on it but I'm a road rider really so like a racey feel and it just doesn't really have it. A clockwork sounds bob on then, I'll have to square some nice lightweight finishing kit, and probably go 1x10 because I can't really go too light on the wheels, I tend to go through spokes pretty quickly.
