To the collective, what opinions on the Ohlins fork and shock? Currently running a 2020 Canyon Spectral CF and going to build up an Orange Alpine Evo. The frame with a Fox X2 is only £200 less than the 'chassis' with an Ohlins fork and shock. I'm currently running a Factory level 36 and DPX2 shock, which I love. I know how to get the best from them and they're easy to set up. Read mixed reviews on the Ohlins regarding small bump sensitivity so I'm interested to hear people's thoughts who actually ride them!

If you just get them "off the shelf" the stock factory tune is very racy and firmly damped, so if you aren't a big lad or don't ride hard you may not like that. However if you get them from Jtech(or other öhlins tuner) when you buy them you get a custom tune in which they remove a negative volume spacer mention here >...that solves any small bump issues.

I'd certainly say if you are an average rider(,like me) you really need them tuned to get the best out of them... sensational forks when you do mind.

@dumbbot has it really. They are firm, but tunable, and they're easy to live with (servicing is easy, they're reasonably robust etc etc) . They are race forks thought and do offer their best performance when you're flat out, "small bump compliance" is either going to be a tyre pressure issue, or low-down on your requirements if you're considering Ohlins.

I wouldn’t be that confident on 36 Grip 2 VVC, just took it off for after a year because I can’t it adjusted properly for other than bike park use. Just had them serviced but no help.
(This is not stealth ad, I’m not in UK)
