At last I have decided to go for an Orange 5 frame - on a set of Pikes. This is a big purchase for me and the new bike will have to last me a long time. I have rad on previous treads that the maxle is an upgrade worth doing so I am going to stretch myself and go for it.

Just a couple of question :

I am in no way a weight weeny but just out of curiosity - does the Maxle add much more weight?

Is is easy to upgrade my old Hope Pro II hub to fit the Maxle?

Thank you.

Oh yeah - Can you show me what colour your 5 is if you have one - thanks

Very small difference in weight between the two, you'll probably not notice it.As for the axle swap, no more difficult than bearing replacement, remove the end caps(may be tight), pull off the freehub assembly and tap the axle out. May as well give it a good clean and service at the same time, and fit new pawl springs too, they do fatigue over time.

i think the axle kit is less than £15 fwiw. definitely the best £100 you could spend after bolt thru fork.

theres a 5 colours thred knocking about somewhere too.
