Just got my hands on one in mint condition. Apart from the usual cracking stories and regressive shock rate are they any good by today’s standards?

My main concern at the moment is the lack of 26 dh tyres. Availability for a decent cost? Seen some for £60ea...

Get on pinkbike and see what's available there, I picked up a couple of butcher dhs for peanuts.

Mine's an Evo but they're not all that different- I think it means you get the straight steerer without the insert, so less adjustable geometry? TBH they're as dated as all hell but they're still fun to ride. TBF they're not really much more capable than a good modern enduro bike but that's not that big a deal really- mine is for cheapness and so that I don't care if I smash it off a tree.

The one thing I really like is that it just feels instantly familiar- I had a Last Herb DH which was just plain better- better handling, better suspension, it made me measurably quicker on the same tracks... But it always took me 2 or 3 runs to adjust to, whereas the 224 I can just jump on and ride.

I've a brand new 26x2.5 Maxxis High Roller DH sat in my garage. You can have it for £20+p&p if you're interested.

I have to add p&p because the thing weighs enough to have it's own gravitational pull!

I've a matching 24x2.7 one too, if there are any Big Hit or other 26"/24" DH bike  fans out there.
