Found the below thread, a little old, so asking a similar question again. I have a bog standard 1 1/8 headtube with an external hope headset. Is it possible to buy a bottom cup that extends out and allows a fork with a tapered steerer to be fitted?

Increase in lower stack height would be a benefit as I want to slacken the head angle.

If your headtube is a 44mm one, then possibly yes.

If you currently have a zero stack internal 1 1/8 lower bearing on your bike then your chances are good. If it's 1 1/8 with an external bearing, it's not possible.

Didn't think it was likely, just exploring options. Dang it.
