An open letter to Trek UK, Gary Fisher and Chevin Cycles
Let me just start by saying I HAVE LOST MY RECIEPT and I HAVE NOT REGISTERED MY BIKE on the Trek website. Lesson learnt and I’m sorry.
Now that’s over and done with I’d like you to consider the words GOOD CUSOMER RELATIONS AND TRUST
I bought one of the first Gary Fisher Rumblefish Two’s that came into the UK from M.P (salesman’s name) of Chevin Cycles in Otley on 11/12/09
I have several bikes but to be honest the Rumblefish is the bike that gets the least use, since I bought it, it has not done more than 350 miles.
On Tuesday this crack in the rear swing arm was found/spotted

This part has a 5 year guarantee as stated here http://www.trekbikes.com/uk/en/support/warranty
On Tuesday afternoon I spoke with Kevin at Chevin Cycles on the phone, he told me that he needed a receipt, which I guessed I hadn’t got, but would look for it, or a bank statement.
I called Trek Warranty department and spoke with Steve who was just as off hand as Chevin Cycles when he told me “no receipt no warranty”.
After a thorough search no receipt was found. So I emailed Chevin Cycles with the pictures and then phoned them yesterday and was told yet again Trek will not honour the warranty without proof of purchase.
As for a bank statement I've looked through my online statements and I didn't buy it from any of these accounts, it was 4 years ago and I can't remember which account I used in fact I think I many have even taken cash out of several accounts and paid cash for it, I simply can’t remember.
I have spoken with the original salesman (M.P) who clearly remembers selling it to me, but he has moved to a non Trek bike store now. I have spoken with the mechanic who built it up for me while I waited (C.H) he remembers me and the first 29er full susser that he built. He now works at another Trek dealership, but was told by Trek “no receipt no warranty”.
Chevin Cycles claim that they changed their tills over 18 months ago and have no old records that they can look back to check that it was me who bought the bike off them. In fact the month before I got them to build me up a lightweight Niner Air mtb as well and yes I’ve lost that receipt as well.
Can Trek or Chevin cycles not trace the bike back via this bar code?

As you can see from the following shot the only changes I have made are to fit Carnigie bars and On One Tyres

It’s never been used on anything other than standard Lakes, Wales and Peaks rides with no “downhill” days.
Sorry for doing this open letter but there is no email address on the TREK website to contact you and I guessed your email address when I cc’ed you into my email to Chevin Cycles so I don’t know if you have received it or not.
Please can Trek PR or Customer Relations get back to me and let me know if you can help me out?
Many thanks
