I've got a genesis fortitude adventure and it has pretty much replaced all my other bikes! Pannier rack mounts, mudguard eyelets, space for 5 bottle cages (yes 5'!) and super slick alfine 11 hub. I know some people have slated the hub but mine has been brilliant as has my mate's. picked the bike up for £950

Just tour on the Swift.

Aiden used his to good effect to come second on the Tour Divide, so i'm sure it'll be fine.

Decent racks are ~£100.

Can't see for a moment why a Swift couldn't handle touring loads. Unless you're a heavyweight, and planning on taking a ton of stuff with.

I've got a Swift and a Fargo. Put the looks to one side, I wasn't all that keen when I first saw a Fargo. Doesn't bother me in the slightest bit now, it's a great ride, loaded or otherwise.

I think the suggestion of frame bags are the way to go. I have tried riding offroad with a stuffsack on a pannier rack and they aren't ideal. I am awaiting delivery of a frame bag from buggybag (£53 for mine), much cheaper than the wildcat ones or alpkit and turnaround is v quick. I'll post a pic when it arrives.

Not sure, you'll have to ask Mr Flatfish. It's his bike not mine.

I believe flatfish's TT handbag is a Revelate one ... I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong 😉

That Shand is lovely!

I've got a Kona Sutra - great bike. Use it for commuting and touring, both on and off road. I've done quite a few off road rides with it and it's fine - ok it'snot a mountain bike and wouldn't want to ride it down Cut Gate or at a trail centre - but it's more than capable for the majority of trails you'd use when touring.

Not the fastest or lightest bike out there, but it rides like a dream and comes with all the racks straight out the box.

Thorn + Rohloff.

Heavyweight, ish [OK, so this is a little extreme]
Raven Tour

Been on all sorts of surfaces with Marathon Supreme tyres for road/graven and XRs for rough stuff. 9 Month tour and hardcore commuting has been done on this bike, no issues whatsoever.

Also suggest Rigida Andra Rims [6000+ miles, no wear]and XTR Brakes with Blue Swisstop Carts, though the ultra-hard compound is a bit **** in the wet.
