Just after abit of info, Mrs SR’s road bike has a borked ultegra front shifter the hydro brake jobbie,She nipped into Chevin Cycles, as it was mid way through her ride, they had a look and said the shifter was goosed and is a warranty job.She has contacted the online retailer of the bike(under 12 months old)and they requested a report from a lbs.
Question is ,is the fee for report and refit of replaced part also refunded?Never had to warranty anything as I am the one who breaks things
Cheers
I doubt they would cover the refit as it's a part that has failed, not the installation.
Can you not just send the shifter to the retailer for assessment?
If its a decent online retailer they should send you the new shifter and also cover the LBS charges.
Ive never heard of them asking for a report from an LBS tho. Surely either photo or video evidence of the fault is enough (or return it to them).
I would try to get the lbs to handle the job for you and try to get the online retailer to cover their bill . That should be the quickest route although the lbs might charge a fair bit for the job as the brake will have to be disconnected to send the shifter away and it will most probably then need bleeding when it is refitted . Plus postage and packing cost plus refitting the shifter , setting up the front shifting and some re-taping of the bars .
