My wife is considerably shorter and lighter than I am and is looking for more compliant bars.
Has anyone got a set of these and do they actually make a difference?
Also has anyone cut theirs down and if so, what length and are they still effective or should I just get something in 31.8 instead (although that would require a new stem)? I only ask as having cut regular 800mm bars down to 760 before i’ve found that they tend to become even more brutally stiff than normal
cheers
I have oneup bars at 760mm.
I regret cutting them that far as I think some of the reported excellent compliance has been lost. That said, they feel about the same as my nukeproof horizon 31.8 carbons at the same width.
You could use 31.8 bars with a shim. Easily available. I do.
Weren't they a Singletrack product of the year?
Answer: yes

I've got some in 35mm. All my stems are 31.8mm
Brand new
If seeking more compliance, and changing the bars anyway, switching to 31.8mm would seem a no-brainer.
I think she'd have more options with a switch to 31.8
I bought some carbon ones for the reported compliance to try and get rid of pain in my hands and shoulders.
Helped a bit but nowhere near as much as sorting out the air spring and damper in my fork.
Around 70kgs, with enough air pressure to maintain some mistroke, I was getting a harsh ramp up. That, and the damper being a bit rubbish made for not just a really uncomfortable ride but also sore hands and shoulders for a few days after riding.

Yeah, coil fork is a more expensive but potentially way better solution than new bars
