Thinking of using one of these with a short cage x9 type 2 mech. Does anyone know if it will fit?

The website says most medium & long cage will fit, but also says saint & zee will fit the 40T, which would both be short cage mechs, so I'm confused...

If you want to swap your short cage type 2 X9 mech for a long cage one then I'd be happy with that. I'm moving off 3x10 to 1x10 and was going to buy a short cage anyway.

For the Zee, you have to use the FR version. So, a wild guess says that it's not as short as "short".

Medium long for their 42t, the 40t was to accommodate the shorter mechs.

I've found that there's a stop on the cage of a medium X9 type 2 that won't let it go 'straight' in line with the chain when on the 42t cog. I had to allow extra chain to cope with it which means the mech is pretty folded up on the 11t and not appling a lot of tension

Well, went for a 40T, and will try it when it arrives. I think if it doesn't fit I will sell the sprocket rather than get a longer mech - haven't run a long or medium cage for years.

So what was the verdict?
