In related news if anyone has a pair of reasonable condition, tubeless, 26" light trail tyres (Racing Ralph, Crossmark, etc) that they don't want then my son's new bike would really like to give them a new home.

On maxxis no. On schwalbe though they're designed to be released from the tyre at regular intervals so you can find your way back if you get lost.
I might've put a bid in if he'd bothered cleaning them.
Cleaning it would probably expose the threads in the carcass 🙂

@rossburton I've got a new Magic Mary (trail star) and Nobby Nic (pace star) in 26" flavour if you're interested.
Both snake skin as far as I can remember.
That left one will really make the trails come alive!
Got a Nobby Nic Pacestar Evo slightly better than the one on the right - yours for postage price if you want.
