I'm looking at fitting a dropper to my son's hardtail and this looks like the best option. Anyone know if a 9 year old can compress it and if not can you drop the air pressure easily so they can? Looking at a 120 shimmed to 100.
The frame needs about 190mm of insertion due to a slight link in the tube (spec says 207mm including mechanism).
one of my v2's came with super low pressure, and had a slow return.. but in theory it would work
My 9 year old has one of hte usper basic posts wth the pin that locks it in palce. .couldnt warrant nearly real post money
The one up has a valve under the seat so you can play with pressure, though thats more about getting it back up again. I reckon they should be fine with compressing it.
They work absolutely fine. I fitted them to my boys bikes last year, when they were nine. No need to stress about the air pressure - the trigger mechanism is really light (much lighter than a gear shifter, for example).
I also got the 120mm model and popped the shims in (little bit fiddly, but not complicated) to drop them to 100mm. A year later, and I've popped them back up to 120mm, so its worked out well.
Brilliant, thanks for the input. I know it's not cheap, I've got Brand X posts on my own bikes but it's an investment (ha!) and has the shortest stack I know of.

I have it very good authority the shims from one up work on brand X... I don't think its too complicated but I've not needed to open a brand X up yet...
The v1 OneUp shims work on BrandX/other identical. The v2 use a different system. I'm not sure if it will work.
