In my ongoing battle with hand and wrist pain these are on my radar. Reviews I've read seem pretty positive with regard to the vertical compliance engineering but I like to ask on here for some strange reason. Game changer or marginal gains?

Just for comparison I had SQlab 12 degree bars which were comfy but I didn't like what they did to the handling and the sweep made them feel narrower than they were. Now on Burgtec alloy which I'm thinking have not much in the way of damping.

There's some bar that has elastomers in it. There's also revgrips which might help.

Seen the revgrips but not sold on them

Can't go 31.8, I have a 35mm Burgtec stem (in purple, no less) and even have the gopro/light mount faceplate for it so not changing that. Tart, yes.

I have the OneUp bars. They replaced a set of aluminium 35mm bars and I can feel a difference. But whatever magic they worked with the shape these are still 35mm bars and considerably stiffer than 31.8. The number of pro downhillers using them should give an indication that they're fairly solidly built. Personally I found the Spank Oozy Vibrocore 31.8 bars made a bigger difference to hand pain.

I’ve heard very good things about Revgrips!

Damn, I was looking to swap from Vibrocore to the OneUps. Vibrocore has been much better than many bars I’d used before, but was looking for wider (800mm) and hoping for a bit more comfort as well.

OneUp and SpanK Vibrocore are the best 35mm options IMO. I have tried quite a few!

I've Revgrips I am thinking about selling too...

Just seen there is a 35mm Vibrocore now but only 25mm rise which isn't enough for me

Much difference between the two GKW?

Not getting on with the revgrips?

Not a lot of difference for me between the 2. Vibrocore 31.8 probably the best then the 35mm version then the OneUps. I like the stealth look of the OneUps...

RevGrips are good and I think they do make a difference but I’ve now got a good bar, grip, lever set up which is working so no longer need the Revs.

If only someone made a shim so you could use the same stem with different diameter bars.

Where would one obtain this code?

If you’re struggling with hand and wrist pain I’d change to a 31.8mm clamp stem now, rather than trying to fix the problem with 35mm bars, not quite succeeding and then having to make the swap to 31.8 in the end!

(I have 35mm stuff on one bike but only by accident really!)

These were the "suspension" bars I was thinking of.

In theory, a stiffer clamping area for the stem/bar interface paired with bars that damp vibrations, could be the best of all worlds. My favourite bar/stem is 35mm, but the carbon bars aren’t that wide. Wide carbon bars with a 35mm clamp NOT made for DHillers could be the perfect solution, but it’s obvious why companies would shy away from wide bars not up to big punishment.

I know one chap who has and he seemed to like them. Just be careful which stem you pair them with as you can't slide the face plate down the bars due to the square section.

I think they didn't play nicely with a Rental stem as the faceplate wraps more than 180°

I went from vibrocore to one up, I much prefer the one up. You can actually feel the flex in them, at first it felt strange but you soon get used to it. I got the vibrocore following surgery on one wrist and the other wrist broken and they did ease the pain I used to get. Since swapping to one up the pain is still absent, maybe my wrists have improved, I don’t know, but I never get any problems on long descents like I used to and they are noticeably less stiff than my mates carbon fatbars.

Sounds like a few people need FlexStems

I know a few people who have run the Faast bars linked above as-well. If you are seriously struggling with vibrations through the bars they are a great option if a wee bit radical!

Just had a look at the Faast ones, to my surprise I think they look pretty cool. Way too spendy though and only 25mm rise so going give the Oneups a go I think

Sounds like you’ve made your mind up, but I’ve been using the One Up 35 bars for about 3 months now and have been very pleased with them. I used them to replace the Bontrager Pro Carbon 35s that came on my ebike because, for the first time in years, I was regularly getting numb hands on rough descents.  I can’t feel any noticeable flex with the One UPS (even on my 22kg monster truck ebike!) but haven’t had numb hands since fitting them.

Sure you've entered it right @beagle? I used it this afternoon.

@bowglie - when I started reading tour post I thought "uh-oh, here comes the voice of dissent after I've just ordered", glad to hear you like them!
Will be going on my E-Sommet, you do get a work out when battering downhill on an ebike

I've been on Chromag OSX carbon 35mm bars for a while now, and they're perhaps the most subtle carbon bars I've used. let alone 35mm ones

There's a Moto X company that does a stem called Hammerhead with different grades of poly bushes that fit round the handlebar.

How we haven't seen this simple solution already in MTB I don't know. They could even colour code the bushes, give-em silly names and charge an extortionate upgrade price for them!

I like that Fasst bar, it's basically 2 flexstems. Shame about the price...

I don't think it'll suit you but I'll mention it just in case, Crank Bros do a ludicrously bendy carbon XC bar in 780mm length, the Cobalt. It's only available in 31.8mm as it's an older design but I have one on my fatbike and the difference it made to my wrists was absolutely crazy. It's flexy in all directions and you can literally see it bend so steering accuracy is, er, not. Surprisingly, it doesn't bother me at all though.

One of my favourite bike products basically

I've got the OneUp 35mm baaaa and you can certainly feel the flex. I've ridden various 35mm bars that I'd call uncomfortable but the OneUps feel totally fine. My next bike will probably be carbon-free and I'll be going back to 31.8mm, but if you want a 35mm bar, I'd say that the OneUp one is pretty compliant.

Nickc - do you mean the Chromag BZA? That’s what I’m running and hoping for even more comfort.

Didn’t know they did OSX in carbon. Will check.

Code is working for me now BTW.
