Why are people annoyed?
Probably because they are dicks
(just to be clear, that's the people, not one planet)
Seems pretty reasonable to me, glad to hear that they are opening up again.
Lots of dicks are annoyed by the look of it.
That seems a completely reasonable approach.
@tdog it works for me! Basically if the link doesn't work they are upping the entrance fee to £8 and restricting the parking to 75 cars a day for the foreseeable future.
Whats one planet?
£8 a day and plenty of space for people? Seems very reasonable.
I can't help but wonder if the folks getting cross are the ones who park in all the passing places already anyhow to avoid paying to park
Excellent, will be having a day out there within a few weeks!
Book early as I think it will be extremely busy online with the limited access.
I don't think that's a bad price to pay. It's about 8 quid to park at Cannock chase
Sounds perfect to me. If they did an honestly box me and a mate who went to gisburn last week reckoned a tenner a visit per person was cheap for what you get.
It does seem a few people are getting overly silly.
Some sensible points made that if they are pre booking it might be more sensible to have half day slots rather than full day, fits what people do better and frees up more capacity for them too. I fully understand that they feel the need to up the charge per car but as you can't car share at the moment it does smart and it might make it harder for groups to ride.
Does suggest people are already forgetting the last 3 months and gone me-me-me again. That price will likely also be covering the unpaid bills incurred.
If people are keen to ride there then the price shouldn't be a concern as they haven't been able to go there for last 3 months.
8 quid? Christ sake, Comrie is a fiver and it doesn't have anything like the length and selection of Llandegla. I'd happily pay 8 quid to ride either.
I'd chuck them a tenner to make up for "accidentally" getting locked in the car park when I was there. When I got up the car park was full of the usual Audi/Vanlife crowd. A bit of perspective, eh?
Strange forum !
i cannot see anything in op's post
Disappointed, thought it was going to be another thread laying into Planet-X. It's late.
Seems perfectly reasonable to me. Costing me £50 to park at Knowsley Safari park and have monkeys nick anything that's not nailed down. £8 to ride all them lovely trails isn't that harsh really.
And the half day idea would never work as loads of people would undoubtedly abuse it..
Some sensible points made that if they are pre booking it might be more sensible to have half day slots rather than full day, fits what people do better and frees up more capacity for them too.
Maybe, but then you end up with arguments about what the optimal half day cut off is and probably a busier time around lunchtime with more people coming and going. If you can fill the demand with full days, reducing rush periods why make life hard for yourselves?
I fully understand that they feel the need to up the charge per car but as you can’t car share at the moment it does smart and it might make it harder for groups to ride.
Which is fully consistent with discouraging groups!
Having spent the last few weeks working through some of the post covid headaches for both work and private stuff it seems that if you reposition the question to, “are you prepared/willing to self isolate if anyone else who uses this facility on the same day gets covid like symptoms - and to stat isolated for 14 days if they are confirmed positive” suddenly removes the gung-ho attitudes.
People are right arseholes, I’d hoped that the last 3 months might have mellowed society into understanding that not everything is for them or can be controlled. But no, it’s like we’ve emerged and become even more selfish and entitled than before. I’m self isolating for another 10 years.
I don’t understand why people get so grumpy about paying to park at trail centres. For a few quid to park your car you can ride all day on maintained, marked trails. It seems like a really good deal to me.
But no, it’s like we’ve emerged and become even more selfish and entitled than before
It's just a backlog. Once people have used up all the unused selfishness they've accumulated over the last few months it'll be back to normal
Did I mis the link to people being annoyed?
Its probably the £50k t5 and a £7k Santa Cruz lot that are complaining about paying £8 to park.
Did I mis the link to people being annoyed?
Can't you see the seething rage in this thread?
It was (I think) a Facebook link in the OP. I didn't follow it. Regardless of the content the comments on any FB post are broadly the same so it will have contained about 20% angry posts 20% supportive and a bunch of things about people's mothers who've never heard of Llandegla for the other 60 at the outset. It'll be 50/50 supportive/I'm really not happy with OPA by the time it gets to 100 comments, and by 200 there will be almost no mention of OPA just mud slinging and bile between two posters who simply talk over anyone with the temerity to make occasional comments to do with the topic.
It's a lot like the politics threads here only on Facebook it's everything, unless it's kitten or puppy photos of course, the comments there are streams of smiley emoji and "Awwwww".
If you can fill the demand with full days, reducing rush periods why make life hard for yourselves?
Eh?
Answer to point 1) You can't fill the demand with full days, obviously. Does't take a genius to work out that a normal day has more than 38 cars at LLandegla
Question 2) So you can make slightly more money and have a reasonable chance of existing as a business next year. And so you can keep more customers happy.
Whats one planet?
....a pretty pretentious name for a place to ride bikes?
Is this STW bingo? Can I play?
"It's smooth and dull anyway and there are way better natural tracks to ride."
"The people who ride Llandegla are all arseholes on stolen bikes anyway."
Hey, I own my bike!
If you don't think it's worth paying for then don't go. No one is forcing you to do anything you don't want, so why get annoyed?
Its almost as if theres been nowhere else to ride bikes for the last 4 months.
Its almost as if theres been nowhere else to ride bikes for the last 4 months.
Is it because modern MTBers only ride trail centres and have never heard of natural trails? (BINGO!!)
Anyway, why is parking restricted so severely in a trail centre car park but not in any supermarket or beach car park that I’ve seen? Once you’re on your bike you barely see anyone else. Do people huddle up to each other for company?
Given us English people aren’t yet allowed into Wales yet it all seems a bit irrelevant
Do people huddle up to each other for company?
Yes, believe it or not they do. There's always some group of tools huddled together in a group blocking the trail whilst they blather/rest.
Often accompanied by a muppet instructor who has gathered them at that spot
I'm presuming they want to limit the crowds around the cafe, easiest way is limit numbers of cars.
Mind you they'll complain about anything up there, it was a social media shitstorm when they put parking up from £4.50 to £5 a while back!
I've got no problem with the system they've introduced. But then when I go there it tends to be for the whole day with a diet of lap-cafe-lap-cafe etc. £8 for a day of that (plus food costs) is good value.
