I just brought a on-one scandal 29er from the site as they are on such a good offer at the moment and I needed a larger frame. I was hoping someone could help me with headset choice, its a tapered headtube but I want to run my old 1 1/8 recon slivers on it. They are cut quite short so I'm looking for a low stack height. I was tempted by the on-one headset that slackens the geo by 1 degree but I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to get. what are the hope ones like and stack height of them. Thanks

Just had mine done yesterday! Put a FRM from on-one on it.

Half price too!

that headset is for a tapered fork (unless it comes with both crown races).

But you should be able to buy a hope crown race adapter for about £8 that will fit on the fork first and then you fit the crown race.

Hope ones are good, Superstar do one too but I would either go with Hope or the angleset one. I am glad I avoided the On One Smoothie mixer from what I have heard.

As for stack they will all be similar as the top is semi integrated (low stack) and the bottom is external (conventional type). If you fit a semi integrated bottom cup to save stack height it will have the opposite effect as the angleset and could mean a fork crown - down tube impact.

Hope Pick N Mix here...took it off my carbon 456 and stuck it on the Scandal 29er. Low stack on the top (about 8mm) but about 15mm on the bottom although I could have got a low stack for the bottom

Well it fitted mine! 1'1/8 Rebas! Not tapered.

OnOne smoothie mixer on mine. Don't think you need to slacken the head angle but up to you. Superstar also do aheadset that comes with both crown races if you can get past the snobbery.

On one smoothie mixer here. Well machined bit of kit and not pricing. Shame if you have a tapered fork though as you'll have to buy a different crown race.

I have a Smoothie Mixer (6 rides use) with both types of crown race that I was going to put on the Classifieds. PM me if you are interested.
