Hey guys,
I;m after something fruity to get me around on the roads quickly during the winter rather than slogging it on the 2.25's my BFe has.
So I managed to find myself a nice 2006 Pompino that is being sold literally a mile away from me but isn't my size *facepalm*. After a quick look on On-One they are still selling pompino frames! For a mere £100!
With the frame not being the correct size I was thinking would it be a straight swap of components?? The owner seems to have kept it in splendid condition!
Am I getting in too deep here and would it be better and/or cheaper for me to just get a full build thats the right size?
Thanks in advance
Help me ST!
Should all swap over, you may need longer cables tho. You can then sell on the old frame.
if you can do the wrenching yourself, no brainer.
Check the steerer on the fork is long enough for the larger frame, it can get expensive otherwise...
thanks guys, do either of you ride SS? Is it as love/hate as most people make it out to be?
Yes, I like it now but at first it just felt weird, not gone rigid yet though, or grown a beard...
Built up a SS for college commute...I love it, it makes commuting fun again.
Gears......what are those? 🙂
I'm sure there are those will hate it, and why not its harder. Some just like it to be all easy. That just takes the fun out of it for me. It's just a different way to ride and I'd encourage anyone to give it a try. I'm wanting a pompino too just I want to make a sscx bike from it.

Yeah love it !
Commute every day on my old Specialized Langster - fitted some marathon pros a couple of months ago ...and love it !!
My ride is only 7 miles but its non road, a mixture of gravel track (sustrans)...v muddy farm tracks, and rutted canal tow paths.
I extended my ride home last night as I just love riding this bike !
