It's fair to say I've had my fair share of their products over the years!! And 'Show us your On-Ones' was a regular thread back in the olden days!!... 🤣🤣

Drunken frame purchase that I couldn’t stop fiddling with. Here’s the final iteration:

And some other parts bolted to it…

2006 or 7 Sandy Inbred, the cheap way into this newfangled 29er thing just to test the water.
Immediately ruined my previously loved 26 Litespeed Kitsuma for me.
This is heading for SSEC 2018 in Arnhem.

Same here. Bought a frame and fork in a sale (obviously), rode it, thought I hated it, rode it again to check, sold it and bought a Bfe.

Didn't even take any pictures of it.

Built this 456c up in 2016. Was meant to be a fun winter hardtail. Turned out to be the deadest feeling thing I had ever ridden ( and I had a Raleigh Activator once!)

I had an original Scandium Scandal which I loved but succumbed to desire for a FS so sold it. A few years down the line I had a bit more money and thought it would be nice to have an HT as well. The 456 was on special so I bought one. At first I thought it was just me because I hated it but while out on a ride in the Peak I stumbled on a Cotic test day and rode a Soul. I couldn't believe two 26" steel hardtails could be so different. I bought one and 13 years on, I still have it ( as well as various other bikes. Didn't put me off PlanetX though, I bought a carbon road bike which is fine.

Started with an inbred, then an Ill pompino.

Then a 456 ebb.

[img] [/img]

Then a London road.

[img] [/img]

Spent years on their bikes doing thousands of miles.

Bought a fatty on C2W. Here it is cycling to work. Smegging customer couldn’t get in as the DLR was broken. But I was fine.

[img] [/img]

Like so many on here I drunkenly took a punt on some shiny things on their site one night. Next thing I know I’ve a £90 set of DT Swiss wheels, some Deore brakes that were cheaper than rotors and pads, then a complete SLX drivetrain turned up that I have no recollection of purchasing. The frame and fork were something of an after thought. All in for less than a grand.

Hid it in plain view from the wife. Took her a year to find it. “Didn’t your orange Orange get nicked?” 🤣<silence>

Apologies for the rubbish photos, taken tonight. Was in a busy area and I always feel weird taking photos of the bike!

I stopped to take the below photo for the photo of the week thread.

Scandal, actually bought from a chap from here as my first 29 and largely because of the scandal thread. It's just a good bike and stupidly good value.

Have had and / or built a few over the years - Brant just seems to design frames that suit my "hang on for grim death and hope you're still alive at the bottom" riding style

I missed the "inbred jihad" bandwagon when the true believers only rode singlespeed (funnily if o you try to searcj for that there's no sign of any results, wionder why?), but a short whle later I got myself the "last ever" geared inbred as my first on-one and never looked back - I have no pics to hand though sadly.

I "upgraded" it for a Cotic Soul and quickly realised the aggressive, active riding position wasn't for me so sold it and bought an 853 inbred
https://flic.kr/p/4DZ1tB

I bought a 14" inbred frame for Mrs NBT (@Bunnyhop) and built it up using bits from the Ellsworth Joker I'd stripped and sold because I was riding the Inbred far more than the FS bike. The ickle inbred still lives in our garage with rigid carbon forks for emergency MTB use, and more frequent use nipping down the canal towpath to the Fruit and Veg stall
https://www.flickr.com/photos/n_b_t/1889404601

Marwood was so impressed with our inbreds, he bought an inbred and I built it up for him
https://www.flickr.com/photos/n_b_t/3903044861

I killed my 853 inbred (bent chainstays - still not sure how that happned. I still have the frame in a box in the garage) so I bought the first ever Blue Pig "in the wild" that Brant sold me on here in a superb piece of guerilla marketing. Rode that for a while.

Tried the prototype ScandAl 29er and loved it, so sold my 26" Chameleon singlespeed (still one of the best non-Brant bikes I've ever ridden) to build a rigid 29er ss v2 scandal that I still own, though it now sports fitness (gears) and skills (suspension), along with a dropper post.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/n_b_t/7832716796/

https://www.flickr.com/photos/mycams/11194715183

Bought an Planet X XLA SL Rival 1 for commuting. Cracking bike.

NBT riding a Planet X XLA SL Rival 1

Still own this, along with the 29er Scandal and Mrs NBT's inbred, and all are used regularly

Never bought a single On-One/Planet X product as AFAIK, not that I've got anything against them.

I do wince a little when I look at my mates helmet that he rides techy MTB at breakneck speed in though. I'm sure it was cheap for a reason, it looks like it should be in the kids section at Halfords

Oh yeah, I've had loads of their merino and coolmax stuff - many many pairs of socks, arm warmers, knee warmers, base layers...

My Inbred SS lies in a sorry state at the back of the shed after being raided for spares over the last few years. However, all of the bits that it donated went on to my lad's Inbred. Which is now my wife's Inbred.

It looks awesomely ratty.

Shame it is too small for me or I would be using it regularly.

I've got an Uncle John that needs a spin out. May start using it for my off-road commute.

My Titus Goldrush: (assuming we can join in with P-X's other brands...)

Bought because at the time it was the only one of the "Mid life crisis ti gravel bikes" that offered internal dropper routing. Eventually asked where the routing was for them to admit that was a mistake in the listing. To be fair to them, they did offer me a return / refund on the spot when I asked. Great bike that I've gone on many happy adventures on.

I guess I really should decide if I want a Scandal / Whippet "one day" as a winter / rigid bike PDQ.

I've had a few.

[img] [/img]
Ti456. Stolen, stripped, dented and recovered in 2010...

[img] [/img]
....still in daily service 13 years on as my wife's commuter. (Not my lawn).

[img] [/img]
PX RT57. Many happy countryside miles, flippin' stiff though. Ebay'd in lockdown.

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]
Scandal 29er. Possibly my favourite ever bike, sadly stolen last year. Has been my only MTB, my wife's reintroduction to cycling after years off, lockdown monstercross and just a great 'everything bike.' Weird, loud and missed.

[img] [/img]
Big Dog. Brief affair. Frame is still in my garage after the bits were swapped onto a Bfe. It may yet become something else, who knows?

Here's hoping Planet X / On-One are still around in future for me to add another to my collection. I've had several, currently just the one Planet X bike but it's my most ridden bike by far.

#1: 456 Summer Season, c.2010ish - great fun bike, abused for years and only replaced when I found a bargain BFe frame:
456ss

#2: Jack Flash 25th Anniversary - bought frame and built up with spares and good intentions, sold after finally realising I just don't have the skills:
Jack Flash

#3: Titus Mutsu Ti - my commuter/flat-barred gravel bike, by far my most-ridden bike. Covered over 11,000km almost all away from tarmac, it's my go-to for local blats, (now infrequent) commutes into the office, riding into town etc. Love this bike.

Just retired this one - exocet2, prob one of their best bikes, stalwart of the UK TT scene. New bike that replaced it isn't much faster.

C456 with Revelation Team Blackbox, Hope/Flow hoops, Easton Monkeybar DH (710mm?) and 50mm stem.

This was 2011 and I think it was my first bike with a dropper. Added a 125mm Reverb shortly after this.

I had a Scandal for about a year in 2007/2008. It was bought when I discovered a crack in my Pace RC303, and got replaced when I bought a Chameleon. It seemed like a decent bike but not really the sort of thing I was after. I sold it to a friend who I think got along with it much better and held onto it for some time.

456 Summer Season, got it around 2011, started with 100mm Recon forks, went to 140mm Revelations, then billy big balls Marzocchi 66 RC2X 160mm coil sprung ones. Superstar wheels, Hope brakes, 2x10 SLX . It was bloody heavy but it was ace. Stripped it down and moved everything to a Mondraker Dune. I still miss this bike.

[img] [/img]

Fatty - got this when there was a promo code floating around for 20% off everything. I think it was a staff discount code but they honoured loads of sales. Upgraded tyres to Nates and swapped out the notoriously bad OEM QR skewers for Hope ones.

[img] [/img]

456 Summer Season (again) - not technically mine. This was built for the eldest through 2020 as he had outgrown his Islabike. Frame, brakes, and wheels all sourced through STW. I've swapped the stem out since this photo was taken. It's heavy but it has a 28t chainring so he can basically ride up walls.

I decided rigid wasnt for me having had my bootzipper for year or so, but Brant firmly stated that you couldnt put a fork on the bootzipper, it would be an unrideable mess and you would die*, so i bought a Jackflash29.

https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/DBCL0102839/on-one-bootzipper-sram-sx-mountain-bike---large---olive-green---rockshox

Rude.

*possibly not quite that firmly)

Always wanted a dedicated winterbike with proper mudguard mounts. Up to this year I’ve made do with rattling clip on mudguards on my old Sensa that sent me round the bend on long rides. I’ve always hankered after a Titanium bike so took the plunge with a Hurricane on cycle to work. Didn’t get it until the end of February before it got put away for summer but after a wheelset upgrade to some Scribe’s to make it a bit lighter I’m generally impressed by it. Don’t know if it’s because of the compliance of the frame or the 28mm tyres (probably both) but it’s a very comfy ride. Still could do with loosing a little bit of weight but it is my winterbike so won’t be breaking any speed records with it

Inbred in SS flavour (should have kept it! 🙁 )
On-One Inbred

45650B, still ridden quite regularly, as this is my only 'real' MTB with gears and suspension... 🙂 Nice successor of the Inbred, I really like it even after all those years.

Thankfully vowed to myself about 5-6 years ago i'd never buy from PX again and have saved myself a lot of time and effort..

I have a couple if great bikes from them, followed by..

- A Fatty trail fat bike where seat tube was too big so needed a Coke can shim, they denied this..

- First Scandal that rear end was so wonky rear wheel rubbed frame

- Second Scandal frame where the first hose guide was tight to the inside of the headtube in the main triangle, that you physically couldn't get the hose to run through it, their solution, why not cable tie it on instead..

Final straw was a Reverb seatpost i sent back as faulty, they denied ever receiving it, even when i gave them the name of the person who had signed for it... 5 months later and a threat of small claims court, and they seemed to find it, but then got a string of offensive FB Messenger messages from an employee who had found me on Facebook and though it would be funny to drunkenly message me, PX washed their hands of it.

Heard some great stories about them including getting a load of factory seconds Giro helmets direct from italy, only for the actual UK Importer to wonder where all these warranty returns were coming from with faulty helmets....
