Bit of a rambling post, pain killers are a bit strong!

Had a bit of a crappy last six months for cycling with three big injuries, one of which was operated on yesterday, so with a birthday coming up, thinking of an unnecessary bike purchase to motivate my recovery. I currently have a Decathlon Triban 500 as a commuter and a Norco Threshold a3 which is now my spare cx bike and I use if my Px XLS is u/s. Both are budget alloy bikes but the Triban now has decent wheels and a carradice bag for commuting 14 miles two or three times a week whilst the norco now has carbon forks, uprated cable hydro brakes and again decent wheels with 40mm tyres which I'm loving, so they are both quite good bits of kit.

I was toying with getting a Pickenflick 2x11 and replacing both of the above bikes. So with decent road wheels having a nice blingy commuter and being able to use it as a spare cx bike if needed.

So what are they like as a road bike and off road, will they take 40mm tyres like the Norco. Is this a good plan? Thoughts?

Anoth Pick post here at the moment. Had mine since Feb 14 ,mostly as a road bike. Love it. Had both carbon and Ti 27.2 seatpins which are nice. OE wheels are heavy. Decals were fragile and fell off my first bike which was stolen. Second is better, but they are not pretty so pulled some off. Used it for road,cx racing and general rough stuff. Wouldhappily have a another to have 2 near identical bikes.
Maybe dated with Qr axles but i don't notice. Forkson both mine, whilst finished properly show the construction layup. Cosmetic only.

I used my last injury to sell the three bikes I had and put it all into one better bike.
Due to not being able to ride it made the process alot more considered and was also motivating whilst unable to ride.
Good health

Can you run a triple chainset? I would want to run it as a light touring bike.
Bottom bracket not too high for the road? I would like to try one with 650b x42 tyres.
