Can anyone explain the difference between the Space Chicken and Free Ranger gravel bikes?

Both appear similar on the Planet X website.

Junior Four is looking for a gravel bike and these seem pretty decent value.

Thanks in advance.

Free Ranger has bigger tyre clearance, don't know if that's the only geo difference.

Also more bottle bosses iirc.

I've not long had my free ranger (700c version) delivered. Not ridden it yet as I've injured myself gardening.

The "inside of the egg" colour scheme looks great out of the box by the way.

I reckon mine will end up with some light 650b wheels at some point for rougher stuff.

I'm not sure if there is an off the peg option for both wheel sizes on the space chicken or not. May be worth checking that if he wants the smaller wheels.

There are geo charts on the website but they're down near the buy it now options at the bottom.

Free Ranger is the updated Chicken, some gains and some losses.
From what i've gathered, Chicken is closer to a CX style and Ranger is more MTB leaning.
Geo is tweaked everso slightly throught the sizes but the main spec differences are:
Chicken has internal dropper routing, none on the Ranger
Chicken is only 1x, Ranger is compatible with 2x
More bosses on the Ranger as stated
Ranger has bigger tyre clearace as mentioned.

Ranger is the Carbonda cfr696 which is the same frame as used on the Dolan GCX but with an uprated fork over the Dolan.

And almost everyone I've spoken to says go with the Planet X size guide.
There is a pretty glowing report on the Ranger from Guy Kestevens

Yes, I've been stalking and researching this for two months now, lots of this info has been gathered from other sites and rider's experience.
I just need to to come down in price a fraction so I can afford it.
