I am looking at an O-O DeeDar frame but there aren't many details about it online so I was wondering if one of you chaps knew:

If the rear bolt through axle is boost or not and if so / not would I need to buy a certain type of wheel to fit it.

and if the bottom bracket would fit a standard shimano threaded BB and cranks or if I would need to buy special ones.

Also if anyone has ever had any problems with the DeeDar or if it has any issues from factory I should know about?

Thanks

The rear drops are bolt in units as well. So you’ll be able to swap between different axle options once all this wheel standards nonsense settles down- the DeeDar comes with 12mmx 142mm, so that’s what you get out of the box.

Bottom bracket looks standard BSA threaded.

Bump to ask if anyone knows if you could convert the headset to fit a tapered fork.

Thank you!

the Planet X page links to Selcof headset. So yes a tapered fork would be fine (it would be quite hard to find a new frame that wouldn't these days..)

My son had a Dee Dar. It had a tapered fork.

The headset it comes with has Zero Stack (ZS) top and External Cup (EC bottom).

The headset you link is fine for the top (ZS) but the bottom is also ZS and not EC.

Whether it'll work I have no idea sorry, but I'd be looking to get the right headset as per the PX website.

I always go Hope for headsets as they cover all angles;
Hope 2 top
Hope H bottom

Not cheap but worth it IMO. £65

Have you seen this;
https://www.wiggle.co.uk/brand-x-headset-44iets-sealed

You need - ZS44/28.6 EC44/40

The one above is - ZS44/28.6 EC44/39.8

So top is fine. I've never seen the 39.8 size before on the bottom but it's 0.1 smaller than needed.

Would it fit? Hopefully someone who knows will be along soon to advise.

I have a DeeDar

BB is bog standard 68/73mm BSA threaded. Rear drop outs run standard Maxle 142mm non-boost. The headset is a standard 44/44 one so you need an external bearing for the bottom to run tapered forks. I use a Works-Components -1 degree slack set in mine on a tapered fork at 150mm travel.

I had a broken Genesis Grapil that I used the rear axle, the BB and the headset from when I built mine up.
