As above, was rather chuffed with my time considering the windy & rainy conditions.

Came 3rd out of 200 + riders.

The 2 folk in front of me looked v fit & were both on road bikes.

Oh - my chain managed to fall off past the chain keeper (1 x 10) & had to borrow allen keys to remove as it refused to go back on.

Will sleep well tonight.....

How much climbing?
I'm (this is honestly true) the reigning Tour de Berkshire champion 😀
On a Mtb too.

...it is a family charity fun-ride however 😀

That's about 16.3mph average so a bit 'meh' to be honest 😀

I don't get it. What road event would 16mph be good enough for 3rd place?

It wasn't actually a race, just a charity event, regardless some folk just can't help to go all out.

Yeah, wasn't all off road. And nothing technical.

2 miles of climbing??? That's 3200m.....very nearly an arm full.

Well done but quantifying a result by saying 3rd out of 200 means nothing.

Would you rather be 3rd out of 200 novices children and pensioners,

Or 3rd out of 5 elite national champions?

Sounds like a similar achievement to mine at a 25 mile "Cycletta" event 2 years ago, when I came 7th out of 697!

STW - what a wondrous place, that even the slightest sense of achievement is instantly crushed with insults and derisory comments.

Well done alan, I'd have been proud of that time too!

STW does seem to attract the sort of resentful teenager types who think it's cool to sneer at anyone else's achievements or enjoyment.

Riding bikes, it's all good.

I say well done! Especially as I spent the weekend with my team in a wet and muddy field, ending up as national steam plough champions! 🙂

Not with that amount of climbing no.

The OP doesn't actually state what he was doing?
