YYYYYEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
yay!!!!!!!!!!!
Great... well done to Wiggins & Froome..
🙂
he's looking a bit nowty
Wiggins being classy waiting for Cancellara to finish before celebrating.
To win by such a margin? He must be on something! 😀
Great race wiggo, olympic gold and SPOTY in the bag!!
wooohooo!!
WIGGO!
My BBC live text still has this up!
Tony Martin is home, holding his advantage over Chris Froome. Now, here comes Bradley Wiggins, turning towards the finish line... what will the clock say? It's good news... great news in fact. he is more than 40 seconds faster than Martin, and is the fastest man home.
That just leaves Fabian Cancellara to arrive, but he was more than a minute slower at the last time check. Barring something incredible, gold is in Wiggo's grasp.
Arise Sir Bradley
Simply Awesome
Fastest sideburns ever.
Fugging ace!
Feel sorry for Froome, again! In any other year he would be heralded as the legend he probably deserves to be seen as!
simply awesome, and that is from just reading what happened
I hope they have that Lesley Garrett bird singing the anthem again.
😆
not only that - at least now he will be remembered as the winner of the 2012 TDF and 2012 olympic TT - and not as the british press love to do remembered as the guy who lost the olympics.
He's riding without a helmet!
Burn him! 🙂
That has got to put him up there as one of the country's greatest sportsmen ever.
What a year for Wiggins, most decorated British Olympian ever now too!
Sir Bradley Wiggins, and SPOTY with Dave Brailsford to get a Sir Hood as well.
Awesome, what a rider what a team long may it continue.
Boris Johnson drops in to offer congratulations;

Sideburns bigger than ever today
Outstanding!
Office stopped for last ten km or so, and all crowded round to watch!
Superb.
And to think he did it all on those chainrings 😉
Christ, that was a 1966 of a moment. Effing magic.
Superb! Quite emotional! 😆
do side burns do a similar job to the dimples on a golf ball?
so who's better? redgrave for 5 golds or wiggins for 7 medals?
Seems to be some differences of opinion

If you take into account everything else i think Wiggo wins by a mile simply because of the TdF win.
oh yeah 🙂
Now in the top 10 of the medal table! fantastic!
I'm gonna grow some sideburns now for sure!! 😉

If you do it by points 3 gold 2 silver 1 bronze then wiggins has 16 points and Redgrave has 16 points.
TDF is a big plus but redgrave has won a lot of WC stuff too.
(mind you redgrave has retired wiggo still got a few years yet hopefully)
Only reason I ask is the TT coverage were saying greatest british sportsman, cut to BBC1 who said second greatest behind redgrave.
Wife is expecting in September.
What say the STW massive we call him Bradley!
Awesome stuff. He's a legend.
Excellent effort from Froome as well, hope he gets the recognition he deserves for what he's done in the last year.
Chapeau Wiggo !
D'you think he might have a little holiday now and hit the pies.
I would

Ah but wait for the track racing when Chris Hoy overtakes them both. 😉
Redgrave needed teammates 😉
brad has won every time he rode without a team
Pointless debate really TBH - tomorrow we may have to add Hoy to the list as well if he gets a Gold
Pies he has wigan Kebab on order [ pie in a bap]

Sounds like destiny calling, hope its a boy, could be embarrassing for a girl growing up being called Bradley.

Hoy loses the equivalent of a gold medal for each awful advert he does.
Double Bloody Decker!
D'you think he might have a little holiday now and hit the [s]pies[/s] wine.
Local wine suppliers are preparing themselves for his onslaught....!
Already know it's a boy. It's in the bag!

thought you weren't telling anyone? Your missus is going to kill you 😀
That podium is slightly off centre.
why are we waiting 😀
quality stuff from the beeb
Up there with Paul Gascoyne in Italia 90, in terms of transforming the status of a sport. Wiggins - someone to believe in at last!
Froome gets Bronze - crowd goes wild
Martin gets Silver - polite applause
Wiggins gets Gold - can't hear yourself think.
🙂
Wiggo......Wiggo.............Wiggo
Phew, thought that loud northern woman was about to pop up and warble at any moment...
Ladbrokes have paid out on all bets for Wiggins to win SPOTY.
What I really like about this, is that is the public have been able to get so involved.
Great Crowds, Great Win..... Great Great Day!
Ah but wait for the track racing when Chris Hoy overtakes them both.
How many events is Hoy competing? Is it just the Keirin or pursuit too?

Keirin and team sprint.

Yeah. Never thought I'd see the day that we'd have huge crowds of people cheering on a bike race in the UK and cyclists on the front covers of the tabloids for all the right reasons. Brings a lump to me throat.
Let's hope some of this good feeling trickles down into more money for cycling provision for ordinary UK folk.
If only we could have Ned Boulting doing the post race interview. I'm off to the hospital now to get my stomach pumped out. I decided to take a drink every time Hugh Porter got a name wrong.
Wiggins 2012 - Transformative.
"And there's Wiggins now" (being followed by a car with FROOME written on the front)I decided to take a drink every time Hugh Porter got a name wrong
Martin gets Silver - polite applause
Let's not be beastly to the hun.
Redgrave got his 5 golds over a longer period of time so that puts him ever so slightly ahead stil IMO, only the width of a sideburn though!!

+1!

All theses Golds, all this glory, . . but I wonder, would Wiggo would let me past in my car on a country road?
that's the real test of a man . . .
I wonder, would Wiggo would let me past in my car on a country road?
You'd be doing well to catch him!
Which road? Link please.
No. There was some car stuck behind him for the entire race.would Wiggo would let me past in my car on a country road?

No. There was some car stuck behind him for the entire race.
Apparently the driver got out and confronted him afterwards, he told them to **** off though
We watched on the Portsmouth Road after Cobham. Good support for most riders but mega cheers for Froome and Wiggo. It's was a shock to see Froome ahead of Sanchez as we did not know his news. Cancellara looked beaten then which was sad. Great support for team GB and loads of non-cyclists really getting into it.
First time to see a pro TT. The impression of speed was not as great as I imagined and they all seemed bulkier than I expected (all in relative senses obviously) . Mega bike envy though. Cervelos, dayglo Shivs and the Giants looked particularly nice!!!!!
Ladbrokes have paid out on all bets for Wiggins to win SPOTY
Three letters say Wiggins wont win SPOTY despite his stunning Year. S. K. Y. The beeb referred to the tour (covered by rival network) as a great prep for the olympics (covered by them), I'm too cynical to think we will see loads of coverage of arch rival SKY-emblazoned kit dominating a centrepiece of the beeb's annual programming.
I hope I'm wrong, but there's a dozen other sports (Andy Murray winning our hearts by losing wimbledon) and possible olympic stories that could eclipse him as far as the beeb and the press is concerned.
Redgrave needed teammates
Except when he won in the scull.
Well done boyo!
I wonder if this is really what it's all about. 😆
