Just picked up a nice condition USE xcr suspensionseatpost for my wife's hybrid but want to change the spring rate. Can get the 2 yellow (med) elastomer out but not the spring - any suggestions as ATM I'm now unable to even put it back as it all was!

It's been a while since I had one of those apart, have you tried hooking it with a spoke?

Don’t worry it would have stopped working soon enough 😜

They can get a bit stuck, but there should be enough poking out to grab with a pair of pliers and give a good tug.

I think the last one that got stuck I had I ended up having to put the upper shaft in some soft jaws and used needle nose pliers to wiggle it out.

It's stuck to far down to get a needle nose pliers in - have emailed USE to see if they have any ideas

only thing I can think of is if you can get a long, I guess M8? bolt and try to screw it inside the spring, the threads should catch the spring in some places and may give you enough purchase to grab.

My circa 25yr+ old one still works fine, had it apart once to grease.

Admittedly it doesn't get used very often these days, but...

Get an old spoke bend it in half and make little hooks on the ends. Squeeze together to get it into the spring. Open out so it hooks and pull.

or a small hilti bolt, or bearing puller (if you have one)
