I've just bought a used frame which has a Maxle rear end.
It has come with the older style Maxle light

I know from experience that this older style "chamfered" Maxle puts stress on Hope hubs, which can cause them to collapse due to lack of support.
Is it just a problem with older Hope Pro 2 hubs?
Are Hope Pro 2 Evo hubs ok with it?
Are any hubs definitely ok with it?
My current wheels are Evo but don't want to risk breaking my hub.

Can't you just replace the Maxle with the newer non tapered type?
Apparently evo hubs are ok as they have a beefier axle in them. I just replaced the maxle light on my five with a betd intense axle, this was for a hope pro2 though.
Pro 2 Evo was redesigned to be, well, fit for purpose really and ought to be fine.
Old Pro 2 wasn't strong enough regardless of the axle used, those ones did them in double fast but both of mine that snapped were on solid/full thickness axles. The hub axle is basically paper thin.

I know people moan about the price of bike parts but that has to be a bit much for a piece of metal with a thread at one end and a lever on the other?
