My girlfriend has a (currently unused) c2007 SS P7 that I'm thinking of rebuilding for her as a 1x10.
It's got a pair of c2005 Shimano XT M765 wheels that are still going strong.
Does anyone know if they'll take a 10-speed cassette?
I'm thinking of going for a 42t Sunrace one if that makes any difference.
It's also got a rather nice 32t White Industries Eno crankset that I would like to reuse, probably with a chain guide. I was considering using a Superstar Plasma guide with the BB mounted ISCG05 adapter.
Does this sound do-able?
Medium cage XT (Or SLX as funds allow), or would a long cage be a better idea?
Any advice much appreciated 😕
Pretty sure 10sp cassettes use the same hub as 9sp so you should be fine. 8)
You'll be fine with medium cage if only one ring at the front but you'll need a longer B-tension screw for an slx mech to clear the 42T cog
Is the chain guide going to be overkill given that it's probably going to be a SS chainring/clutch rear mech?
Most likely use will be trail centre type stuff...
