I'm trying to remove the shock from a 2006 stmpy fsr frame, and either I'm daft or Specialized have made a right weird frame...
There's a single bolt, which passes through the linkage on one side, through what seems to be a steel axle that holds the shock eyelet in place, and then threads into the other side of the linkage. With the bolt removed I'm left with an axle that can only come out from one side (as the other is threaded), but with nothing to get any purchase to tap it out.
I have no clue. Does anyone on here have the same frame, and would they be willing to give up the magical secret of specialized shock removal..?

My 2004 was the same design - the axle unscrews - you have to unload the weight off the shock and just pull the axle out - it screws in one side of the linkage only - you just then pull the shock upward/lift the saddle and the shock eyelet slips out.
Take it back to where you bought it from.
I had the same problem. I took it back the LBS and they could not get it out without cracking the carbon. Specialized replaced the frame under warranty. Mine is a 2008 model which may be a different design.

You mean you can't get the bolt out - just put a screw driver in the other end and tap it out after unscrewing it - I would assume its the weight of the bike on the axle stopping you from easily withdrawing the bolt no?
Cheers for the advice, we got it sorted. The shock eyelets had seized to the linkage. Another job for a satisfyingly large hammer...
