Is there any bike charities out there that take your old bits if you can't be bothered with the hassle off selling them for the few quid you'll get for it?

If there are any in the Midlands I too have a pile of stuff that I'd happily hand over.

There's one in Guildford. I gave a a load of old stuff to them last year. They use it to repair donated bikes, but I think they also train disadvantaged youths to give them a focus and, possibly, a trade.

I gave mine to the guys at Brighton uni, they fix up the abandoned bikes and hire them to students.

I put an ad on gumtree offering the stuff and the guy cycled over with a massive rucksack, tipped it all in and zip tied the wheels to the outside. I hope he made it...

I've taken bits and pieces in several times to the Whitton shop, and they've not refused it.

Dave32 if you are near to Portsmouth the Portsmouth bicycle user group has a connection with a recycling / cheap bike charity

Search for pompeybug

Not sure if they take parts or whole bikes only
