Friend has bought a mk1 Solaris. It's got an extra bolt on the downtube just behind the headtube.
We have googled, drank lots of tea and stared at it really hard, but are still none the wiser on what it's for.
Does anyone know?
It seems to be a feature on all models of Solaris.
I think it's for a cable hose guide, one of those p-clip style ones.
That was my first thought, but I can see what for. The frame has all the usual cable and hose guides. And doesn't appear to be drill for a dropper.
Unless it's pre-internal dropper routing? But then there isn't a similar bolt near the bottom bracket??

My Solaris ran an external dropper. They are also old enough to be ran with a front mech!
Yeah I never really knew what it was for when I had one. I ran an external dropper and had it routed under the top tube next to the rear brake hose as I wasn't running a front mech. I also drilled out the cable guides to run a full length cable outer to the rear mech.
Bloody loved that bike. Kind of wish I still had it.

I think that’s on the later pre-longshot Solarisises isn’t it? Option to do cable routing for a sideswing front mech- cable clamps mounted there and under the bottle cage?
my Mk1 doesn't have an extra bolt.

@swanny853 has it. It’s not the Mk1 and it is for a side swing front mech
Thanks all!
My friends will be pleased with that as he's converting it to 1x
And yes on closer inspection it's a mk2.
